Join Koan Health's Dynamic Team as an Analytics Engineer

Are you ready to make a difference in healthcare? Koan Health is seeking a talented Analytics Engineer to join our passionate team. As a critical member of our organization, you will work closely with our Client Success Managers to translate real-world healthcare questions into structured analyses and reports, helping our clients succeed and contribute to our company's ongoing success.

About Koan Health

Koan Health is a population health analytics platform built to help value-based care organizations succeed. We work with ACOs and Clinically Integrated Networks (CINs) to improve cost and quality results with confidence and measurable impact.

Our core platform, Datalyst™, is a must-have population health management solution trusted by many of the nation’s leading healthcare organizations. To date, we’ve helped generate over $800 million in Medicare shared savings by empowering healthcare leaders with the analytics tools and insights they need to deliver better outcomes at lower cost.

We founded Koan Health to create a meaningful impact in healthcare, and we are dedicated to assisting our clients in navigating population health with clarity, precision, and confidence.

The Role

We are seeking an Analytics Engineer to provide customized analytics and reporting for our clients.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Client Success Managers (CSMs) to translate real-world healthcare questions into structured analyses and reports. While CSMs partner with clients to scope reporting needs, you will be responsible for evaluating the scope, proposing improvements or alternative approaches, and delivering the final analytical output.

Much of your work will involve querying large healthcare datasets and transforming the results into polished, client-ready reports. These reports are often delivered as PDFs, Excel workbooks, or CSV files, and are frequently used directly by healthcare leaders and analysts. Because of this, clarity, usability, and thoughtful report design are critical. The work you produce must not only be analytically correct, but also intuitive and easy for clients to use.

What You’ll Work On

Some of the work you might tackle includes:

●     Building custom analytics and reports for healthcare organizations using our platform

●     Querying large healthcare datasets to answer complex analytical questions

●     Generating client deliverables in formats such as PDF, Excel, and CSV

●     Designing reports with clear charts, graphs, and tables that communicate insights effectively

●     Building Excel workbooks with features such as slicers, pivots, formulas, or macros to support client workflows

●     Evaluating the scope of client requests and suggesting improvements or alternative approaches

●     Ensuring the accuracy and quality of analyses before delivery

You’ll work closely with our Client Success Managers (CSMs), who partner with clients to define reporting needs. Once a request is scoped, you’ll take ownership of the technical analysis and report generation.

What You’ll Do

Client Reporting & Analytics

●     Write SQL queries (primarily PostgreSQL) to analyze healthcare data

●     Build custom reports and analyses for clients

●     Produce client-ready outputs including PDF reports, Excel workbooks, and CSV datasets

●     Design reports that present complex data clearly using charts, graphs, and structured tables

Scope Evaluation & Problem Solving

●     Review scoped client requests and determine the best analytical approach

●     Identify potential issues, edge cases, or improvements in requested analyses

●     Provide feedback to CSMs on feasibility, complexity, and potential alternatives

Data Quality & Validation

●     Validate results and ensure accuracy before delivering reports to clients

●     Investigate discrepancies or unexpected results in healthcare datasets

●     Help maintain trust in the data and analyses delivered through the platform

Continuous Improvement

●     Identify opportunities to automate or standardize recurring reporting workflows

●     Improve query performance and data processing efficiency

●     Contribute ideas for improving internal analytics processes and tooling

 What We’re Looking For

Required

●     3+ years of experience in analytics, data analysis, or a similar role

●     Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)

●     Ability to translate business questions into structured analyses

●     Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy

Preferred

●     Experience working with healthcare data (claims, EHR, or population health data)

●     Experience producing PDF-based reports or client-facing analytical deliverables using R

●     Experience working with external stakeholders or clients

●     Experience in startup or high-growth environments

What We Offer

●     Remote-first, flexible work environment

●     Competitive salary
