We’re looking for a Software Engineer with Ruby on Rails experience to help build and evolve our core platform.
You’ll work on the systems that ingest large healthcare datasets and power analytics workflows for value-based care organizations.
Our engineering team works in a highly collaborative, fast-moving environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work across the stack, influence product direction, and see your work quickly move from idea to production.
Some of the problems you might tackle include:
● Building and improving features within our population health analytics platform
● Designing systems that process and analyze large healthcare datasets
● Improving platform performance and reliability as our client base grows
● Partnering with product and client teams to translate real-world healthcare problems into software solutions
● Improving internal tooling and development processes
You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering environment where thoughtful design, maintainable code, and pragmatic solutions are valued.
● Design, build, and maintain features within Koan Health’s analytics platform
● Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code using Ruby on Rails and related technologies
● Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design through deployment and support
● Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability as our client base grows
● Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues
● Participate in debugging and troubleshooting production issues
● Partner with product managers and client success teams to translate user needs into technical solutions
● Collaborate with other engineers through design discussions and knowledge sharing
● Help shape technical architecture and development best practices
● Contribute to improving development processes, testing practices, and code quality
● Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate
● 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
● Strong experience developing applications with Ruby on Rails
● Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
● Experience building and maintaining production web applications
● Ability to work collaboratively in a small, fast-moving team environment
● Familiarity with healthcare data(claims, EHR, or population health data)
● Experience working with data-heavy or analytics-focused platforms
● Familiarity with Amazon Redshift or large-scale data warehouses
● Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
● Experience working in startups or high-growth environments
● Familiarity with front-end frameworks or APIs, Golang, and Git
